Like many criminals, pedophiles try to decriminalize or normalize their crimes. Even Ted Bundy said that he was misunderstood. However, there is a concerted agenda that pedophiles are pushing to increase their chances of having sex with your children. You should know about it.
Pedophiles, like many abusers, deceive others about their intentions and their agendas.
One note: in this article, I generally use the masculine pronoun to refer to child sexual abusers. Abuse by female pedophiles is even more underreported than for male pedophiles, but it is thought that at least 95% of pedophiles are male, and Perverted Justice, the volunteer organization that trolls the internet for predators, has never caught a female pedophile out of thousands of chat logs, either in chat rooms or in conjunction with Dateline NBC and law enforcement.
1. Vocabulary
Pedophiles are trying to eliminate the word “pedophile” are replace it with the more positive terms “boy lover,” “girl lover,” or the all-inclusive “child lover.” These values-neutral terms suggest that pedophiles don’t want to have sex with kids, they merely want to love them. This is a fallacy. Pedophiles do not love the children they abuse. If they did, they wouldn’t sexually abuse children and thus cause decades of heartache, not to mention physical pain and damage, to the kids.
Rather than use the word “victims,” pedophiles refer to “Young Friends,” (or “YFs” in chat rooms,) which is what they call the children that they are either grooming for sexual abuse or actually molesting. Suggesting that they are “friends” with the child places the abusive relationship on even footing, establishing an equality between the sexual abuser and the child that does not exist.
Child sexual abuse victimizes children. It does not befriend them.
2. Sexual Inclusion
Pedophiles want to have sex with children, but that’s illegal, so they seek to promote a child’s right to have sex with them.
One point of the pedophile agenda is a mistaken belief that there are children who want to have sex with adults, especially old adults.
In general, this is just plain wrong. There are a few children (meaning under 18 years old) who say that they want to have sex with adults, but they are few, very few, like I could count them on one hand without taking off my mitten. These children have been abused in the past and have survived the abuse by internalizing the pedophile’s desire. It’s like Stockholm Syndrome, where a hostage identifies with their kidnappers and sympathizes with their aims in order to survive the ordeal. Just because some children have developed an aberrant survival mechanism does not mean that we should allow other children to be abused.
3. Pro-Pedophile Websites
Yes, you can find anything on the web these days, and websites that promote the sexual abuse of children is no exception. I will not list any pro-pedo websites here.
Some of these websites exist under a mistaken definition of the First Amendment, which defines freedom of speech. Speech that promotes the commission of a crime is not protected. Just like it is illegal to yell “Fire!” in a crowded theater, it is illegal to yell “Here’s how to have sex with children!” to a bunch of pedophiles.
The volunteer organization Perverted Justice is effective with helping the police convict pedophiles because it is illegal to solicit a child over the internet for sex. That means it is a crime to convince a child (or someone who presented as a child) to have sex via an internet chat room or other website. Therefore, when the creeps on Dateline NBC's "To Catch A Predator" arrive at the “sting” house to have sex with a child, they have already committed one crime, and arriving at the house for sex is another one. The “sting” house merely makes it convenient for the police to arrest them.
Pro-pedophile websites, many of which claim to only discuss legislation or social issues, invariably turn to conversations such as “How can I convince my Young Friend to have sex?” or “…to not tell?” or other grooming strategies. This speech is not protected by the First Amendment. It is similarly illegal to post instructions for weaponizing anthrax or smallpox or how to build a nuclear bomb out of common household items. These are all instructions on how to commit crimes, and instructions on how to commit child sexual abuse are no exception.
Conclusion
Pedophiles want to have sex with kids. That’s why they’re pedophiles. If they didn’t want to have sex with kids, they’d be more interested in helping the kids stay in school or eat nutritious food.
Child sexual abuse can destroy people’s lives. (I explore some of the ramifications of in my novel, RABID, which is coming out in April, 2007.) Pedophiles do not care that their abuse damages children, both emotionally and physically.
Don’t be distracted by their new war of words.
